If you are trying to have a baby, a fertility monitor can aid in increasing your chances of becoming pregnant. One of the more popular fertility monitors on the market today is the Clearblue Easy fertility monitor. It is available for purchase online and in many neighborhood drug stores or retailers.

There are many women that suffer from irregular menstrual periods, as opposed to a normal twenty-eight day cycle that can make it difficult to know when it is possible to conceive. By monitoring two different hormone levels, the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor, unlike most traditional fertility predictors, can help you identify which days you are at your most fertile, and which days you have a high level of fertility that can lead to conception.

If you know your high fertility days, you will have a larger window of time for conception to take place. Having sex in the days immediately prior to ovulation occurring and while ovulation is going on can help to optimize your conception odds, as sperm can live in a woman's body for a few days.

The Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor measures the level of both estrogen and the luteinising hormone, or LH, to determine when you will reach your peak of fertility that month. Once the estrogen in a woman's body increases to a particular point, a woman experiences an LH surge, which is a quick rise of LH, that causes the egg to release from the ovary. The release of the egg, or ovulation, happens generally 24-46 hours after a woman experiences her LH surge. In laboratory tests, the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor was able to detect an LH surge with 99% accuracy.

The Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor is, as the name implies, easy to use. Depending on the length of your cycle, the monitor will alert you that you should begin to test your urine, usually testing ten to twenty times each month. Your fertility level is then determined and displayed by the fertility monitor as one of high, low or peak. You can also store your cycle information with the monitor which can help you find overall patterns in your cycles.

The Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor can determine that there is a rise in estrogen. If so, the monitor will display your fertility level as being high. Thin and slippery fertile mucous is associated with high levels of estrogen in the body. This substance makes it much easier for sperm to survive and swim with ease. Having intercourse during this time of high fertility, could result in several alive and present sperm when the egg is finally released. Peak fertility is used to describe the LH surge that suggests you are about to ovulate. You can also consult the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor to tell you when to have sex for the best odds at conception.

The "M" button is a handy tool on the monitor which will allow you to document the beginning of your cycle with the simple press of a button. This button can help you determine the six hour window you can test in each day. This six hour block should fit well into your routine and allow you to test your first urine both during the week and on the weekends. When a new cycle begins, you can push the M button, or you can alter your testing window when you select the M button some other time. It is very important to remember to test your first urine of the day and you should make sure that your testing window is convenient for your routine.

Are there any differences in Clearblue's Ovulation Tests and Clearblue's Fertility Monitor? There are more fertile days identified by the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor as it shows you both peak and high fertile days. The monitor will also alert you that your cycle is nearing an end or that you need to test and can hold some personal information that may be useful. The tests are similar in look and feel to pregnancy test kits and require you to estimate when you will ovulate.  With the ovulation test kit, the test line is darker than the control line during ovulation.  The monitor takes a lot of the guesswork out of fertility testing, provides clearer results and leaves less room for error, but it does cost more.  The monitor may be more difficult to use if your cycle is very irregular.

Trying to conceive can be disappointing and an emotional roller coaster.  It is possible to relieve some of the frustration by using a fertility monitor.  Using the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor which accurately identifies the times when you are most likely to conceive can greatly increase your chances for success.
